Landi, the funniest sea turtle in the Atlantic

If there is one thing that cannot be missed on the arrival of our guests at Landmar Costa Los Gigantes, it is the guarantee of fun for the little ones. There is a creature that you will find in the hotel and who makes sure that all the rooms are full of smiles and good vibes. His name is Landi and today we have come to introduce him to you.

 

Landi is a little turtle that arrived at Landmar Hotels after being born in our beloved Atlantic Ocean, near the Canary coasts. After a lot of swimming he decided to stay with us for a long time and share with the children all the entertainment activities that take place in the hotel.

 

Landi has a multitude of hobbies, all of them very lively and fun. The children who visit the hotel can live endless experiences with him and our entertainment team. Landi’s favourite thing to do is dance, he is an expert dancer who masters all musical styles and can’t stop if he hears the rhythm of the beat.

Sea turtles face a multitude of dangers and changes in their natural habitat, many of them caused by man. We must take all these factors into consideration so that new generations take care of these magical species of the seabed.

 

Climate change, caused to a large extent by human actions, causes more intense storms that destroy the turtles’ nesting sites. Rising sea levels with the melting of the polar ice caps are also a factor affecting the turtles’ usual nesting sites. The change in currents or the rise in temperature of the sand are also factors to be taken into account.

 

But it is not only the natural consequences of climate change that have an impact, direct human action also causes irreparable damage to the habits of these creatures. The construction of the coastline without respecting the corresponding distances, massive fishing of other species, pollution, plastic waste, the introduction of invasive species or maritime traffic destroy the habitat of this species every year and end the lives of many of them directly. It is time to raise awareness and work on environmental education with children, learning through play is the best way to build generations that respect and admire animals.
